Home Extension Types in Sutton Coldfield

There are numerous types of home extensions that we offer at 1UP Construction; each extension service is designed to cater to every desire and requirement.

  • Kitchen Home Extensions

Kitchen extensions are probably the most well-known home extension type, with kitchen space often seen as an afterthought in property building. Kitchen extensions are ideal for a growing family whose day-to-day revolves around the heart of the home, the kitchen.

  • Double-Storey Home Extensions

Double-storey home extensions are a growing trend in home extensions, with homeowners wanting to take advantage of vertical space, as well as growing out. A double-storey home extension will require planning permission from the local authority.

  • Knock-Through Home Extensions

Knock-through home extensions are an excellent way to seamlessly create open, flowing interiors. As the name suggests, this type of home extension knocks through an existing wall in the home to incorporate the home extension. Our expert team will help you with navigating the building regulation approval.

  • Wrap-Around Home Extensions

Wrap-around home extensions are the ultimate solution for unlocking the potential space on your property. By expanding to the side as well as the front or back, creating an ‘L’ shape, your property significantly increases in living space for a growing family or working from home potential.

  • Above Garage Home Extensions

Above garage home extensions are an innovative way to create more living space whilst using the ground space you already have. If your home with a garage doesn’t have enough outward space to build, that shouldn’t put you off a home extension. Above garage extensions take advantage of vertical space, creating a beautiful and practical space, integrated into your home style.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whether your home extension needs planning permission will depend on different unique factors, including the existing property and the home extension project plans.

When it comes to home extensions and planning permission requirements, there is a very broad set of circumstances which will determine whether building planning permission is required. Currently, you are allowed to build extensions up to 4 metres away from the original rear wall of the property, provided it does not exceed 50% of the land surrounding the property.

However, there are exemptions to this, such as conservation areas, and other structures being included in the calculation of the percentage of land used and others. We treat each job individually, and our planners and designers will be able to advise you accurately and help you liaise with the local planning authority.

There is no definitive answer for how long a home extension project will take, as each project will have its own challenges and opportunities. To give an estimated guiding time frame, we take into account the home extension plans, as well as visiting the home to get a clear picture of the space.

Once we have seen the job, we will be able to provide you with an estimated completion time.

What we can guarantee you is that we always do our best to get the project done as quickly as we possibly can, without compromising on quality. We understand the disruption a building project can cause, so we do everything we possibly can to keep that to a minimum.

At 1UP Construction, we take pride in delivering our building projects, such as home extensions, on budget and on time.

It’s all too common to hear of stories about the friend-of-a-friend builders who came in £5,000 cheaper, and then at the end of the job put an invoice in for £10,000 more than quoted.

That isn’t the case with 1UP Construction, today or ever.

We make sure to go through the plans twice. We will discuss your exact specifications with you, right down to what style of door handle details, so when we give you a quote, you know exactly what you’ll be paying.

If you decide on additional work while we are there, then these will be quoted before carrying out the additional work. The cost will always be transparent.

You will not need to move out of your home while the building project is underway.

Building can be a messy business, unfortunately. However, we have strict policies in place to ensure the mess is kept to a minimum.

All flooring which will be affected will be covered using corrugated plastic covers or carpet roll before any work is carried out.

This will then remain down throughout the build and will not be removed until the last sweep has been completed.

At the end of each working day, we will make sure your home is left clean and safe for you to carry on living in your home with minimal disruption.

The first step is to get in touch. Be it a phone call or email, contact us to talk about your vision and how we can help you. That is the pinnacle of what we have to offer here at 1UP Construction!

Once you make that initial contact with us, you can sit back and relax. We will get in touch with you to arrange a home visit, discuss your needs and requirements and then we will do the rest!
